In this drop we are highlighting Washington State. Its vast fertile valleys have a history of being successful producers of wheat, fruit, and increasingly, winegrapes. In the last handful of years, Washington growers have diligently matched the right terroirs to the right varietals, and have learned how to farm them better than ever before. In this Drop, we’ve made a Red Wine for you from the largest appellation in the State, the Columbia Valley. With a predominance of Syrah in the blend, along with its Rhone white grape blending partner Viognier, and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon as well, we think this wine would be fun to compare against a Cru status vineyard from the Northern Rhone. It will be a guaranteed hit if it “shadows” you to any summer BBQs!

about our drops

Each quarterly drop is purpose-made for our members around the theme of the release, and will differ every quarter. With each shipment, you will receive the equivalent of 6 bottles, which may be 6 bottles of the same wine, or a combination of different wines. The theme and wines will change from quarter to quarter, but will always be thoughtfully made and produced exclusively for our members. The wine may be white, red, rosé, sparkling, or a combination of those, but will always be delicious. If you particularly love a wine in the release, as a member you may purchase additional bottles through the GESTALT website. Over time, we will introduce additional wines available to everyone, with members enjoying a significant pricing discount.

One of the core tenets of GESTALT is that the type of wines that we ship will be interesting and varied. Over the last decade and a half or so, one region that has steadily improved and impressed is Washington State. For Me and My Shadow- we bring you a bold wine from Columbia Valley.

Each drop includes a custom tabloid style newspaper magazine exploring the theme to accompany our wine. For ‘Me and My Shadow” we contemplate the lessons we can learn from the generations that follow us.

the art object

All of our drops contain 6 bottles of wine, a tabloid magazine and a custom art object. This drop, we played with light and time - transforming our label into a disappearing act through a lenticular print. Moving the lenticular from side by side, one figure will appear or disappear - as ephemeral as shadow’s themselves.

Every drop in our tabloid newspaper magazine we discuss our theme. This quarter, Dave Phinney discusses the balance of family life, the importance of mothers and fathers, and our inter dependance on one another.
